Christ Church, Rockaway, NJ | September 19th - 20th

Collyde Summit is a gathering of passionate believers in the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania area, who love Jesus and are convicted to become world changers.

Brought to you in partnership with:

2014 Theme: Overcome

“In this world you will have many trials and sorrows but
take heart, I have overcome the world” — John 16:33

Your story is an "Overcome" story. And you are in good company. Abraham waited 25 years to see one promise come to life. Moses wandered the wilderness for 40 years before seeing the burning bush. Joseph sat in a prison for 13 years for a crime he did not commit. David hid in caves for 10 years waiting to be king. Esther was an orphan girl who was forced to give up her rights for the promise of an uncertain future. Jesus endured the cross even though He was sinless. Stories of greatness are often woven with strands of heartache, loss and suffering. We call them "Overcome" Stories.

What does "Overcome" mean in your life? Overcome is about looking beyond your circumstances and trials to Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith. God is authoring a unique story in you and He knows all the intimate details and promises to use everything — all the pain and tough moments in this life — for good. God uses hardships to build character, challenges to create dependence, obstacles to ignite faith and suffering to establish identity. Going through the process creates stronger Christ-followers - a better leader, a more dedicated spouse or a more committed servant.

We are not discouraged when we are hard pressed on every side, rather we embrace it because Jesus said "In this world you will have trials and sorrows, but take heart because I have overcome the world." He promised HE has overcome the world. When we identify ourselves as belonging to Him, as Christ followers, we can be assured that we too will overcome because we are hidden in Him. It is through Him that we are overcomers.

Welcome to Collyde Summit 2014!

Founder, One Day's Wages

@eugenecho

www.eugenecho.com

Eugene is the founder and executive director of One Day’s Wages – “a movement of people, stories, and actions to alleviate extreme global poverty.”  He is also the founding and lead pastor of Quest Church and the founder/executive director of Q Cafe – a unique non-profit community cafe and music venue in Seattle. Born in Korea, he immigrated to the United States at age six and grew up in San Francisco. He trekked out to the East Coast for several years, returned to the homeland of the Morning Calm (South Korea) for couple years, and now lives in Seattle with his family.

He and his wife, Minhee, have been married for 17+ years and have three children.

In the truest sense, Eugene is wicked and depraved but redeemed by the grace of God; Blessed by revelation and compelled to respond as a herald of resurrection, redemption, and reconciliation and an advocate for issues of mercy, justice, and compassion.

While he isn’t a very sought out individual, he finds great joy in knowing that he’s still pursued by his wife and three children. When not enjoying his family, neighborhood, and various local ministries, he travels nationally and globally to speak on issues of faith, justice, leadership, non-profits, social entrepreneurship, and other pertinent issues that people will forget when the next fads are introduced.

Eugene blogs regularly and is considered one of the average bloggers on issues of Faith, Leadership, and Justice. Blah blah blah.

Eugene’s first book - Overrated: Are we More in Love with the Idea of Changing the World, Than Actually Changing the World? – releases Fall 2014.

Jeremy Camp

Musician & Songwriter

@jeremycamp

Facebook

www.jeremycamp.com

Jeremy Camp’s seventh recorded studio album Reckless needs a warning sign: NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. For come February 12, when the album releases from BEC Recordings, it just might inspire listeners to surrender everything, even what they never thought they could give up.

This happened to Camp about a year ago when he felt God ask him, “Are you willing to surrender everything?” For him, “everything” was music. Something he has been quite successful at for the past decade, with 32 No. 1 radio hits, a Grammy nomination and five Dove Awards. Even with this success, Camp says God brought him to a place where he could, if the day ever came, surrender music. “Not that it wouldn’t be a challenge,” says Camp, “but I wouldn’t be devastated because this is not my life. Christ is my life.”

It was with this mindset that Camp wrote “Reckless,” the first single on the album. “Reckless” tugs at the listener with its call-to-action lyrics: I’ll lay my life down and give it up / I’ll give it up … I will not be afraid to surrender my way to follow who you are / I want to be reckless. Camp explains the concept of recklessness through the life of Paul. In Acts 14, Paul returns to Lystra to share the gospel—a city where he had been stoned and left for dead just days before. Sounds crazy that he would return to a place like that. But as Camp explains, it’s more reckless than crazy, and there’s a difference. “[Paul] wasn’t being crazy for crazy’s sake, saying ‘I don’t care what’s going to happen. I just want to go.’ No, when you feel God calling you to do something, you have to be obedient. And that’s the difference. Paul was just obedient. That’s what reckless is.”

As a part of giving everything to God, Camp has also penned his story in the upcoming book I Still Believe (Tyndale). In I Still Believe, he shares, with unflinching candor and emotion, the extraordinary story behind his award-winning lyrics–from his impoverished childhood, rebellious teenage years, and spiritual awakening at Bible College, to the tragic loss of his first wife, Melissa, to cancer and the heart-wrenching spiritual journey that followed–a journey that reignited his faith, inspired some of his most beloved songs, and paved the way for a second chance at love with his second wife, Adrienne.

Some may call Jeremy Camp crazy for not caring more about the success of his career, but others know, he’s not crazy; he’s reckless

During the New York Giants' 2011 Super Bowl run, much of their inspiration is attributed to Gian Paul Gonzalez (pronounced John Paul). Prior to the Giant's Christmas Eve game with the NY Jets, Gonzalez delivered the now famous "ALL IN" rally cry message during the Giants' chapel service and is now widely recognized as having inspired the New York Giants to their Super Bowl victory and was featured on ESPN on Super Bowl Sunday, and has had notable appearances on Fox News and CNN. He has traveled across the nation as a motivational speaker for the NBA's Portland Trailblazers, to the Army Cadets at West Point, Sam's Club, Patch.com, as well as to many other corporate, athletic, government agencies, and educational institutions.

Gian-Paul Gonzalez is himself an inspiration. He was a former NCAA First Team All-American forward from Montclair State University scoring nearly 1,400 points in his 3-year career. Played with the LA Clippers in their NBA Summer League in 2008 and was offered a few professional basketball contracts, yet he turned them down in order to continue his work with at-risk youth.

He is a gifted motivational speaker and is the founder of 4-One, an organization dedicated to using basketball to share a message of hope and striving for excellence in inner-city public schools and juvenile jails. For which he has received the 2012 New Jersey Hero Award from New Jersey First Lady Mary Pat Christi.

During his time in Alabama, William had the chance to help rebuild and relocate an ailing congregation, and lead them to new levels of growth. At 31, he was elected Senior Pastor for the First Presbyterian Church of Houston, a church of about 5000 adults and 1500 children strong. It is Houston's oldest congregation.

Jeremy Camp

Musician & Songwriter

@jeremycamp

Facebook

www.jeremycamp.com
